Signature model R161 used by Wade Boggs during his rookie season of 1982 has "26" (Boggs’ number) written on the knob in black marker. All of the manufacturer’s stamps are bold and distinct. The bat, comprised of top quality white ash, is uncracked and exhibits light use, evidenced mostly by rack marks. Wade Boggs played in 104 games with the Red Sox during his rookie season of 1982. During that time the team became fully aware of his unique hitting abilities, as the young Boggs blistered American League pitching at a .349 clip. That would only serve as a foreshadow of things to come, however, as he followed that up with a .361 average the following year, capturing the first of his five batting titles. Boggs eventually finished his career as one of the game’s all time greatest hitters, amassing over 3,000 hits and posting a lifetime average of .328. An extremely rare rookie era bat belonging to one of the finest hitters of the modern era and a certain future Hall of Famer. Length: 34", Weight: 31 oz.
