Beautiful Baltimore Orioles road jersey worn by Hall of Fame shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. during the 1990 season. The gray knit jersey is lettered "Orioles" across the front and features Cal’s number "8" on both the left breast and reverse. "Ripken" is arched above the number on the reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in black on orange tackle twill. On the inside left front tail is the size 48 Rawlings tagging complete with Set 2 1990 flag tag and a "2 inch extra length" tag. All letters and numbers show appropriate usage wear. Ripken signed the jersey in black marker (9/10) on the back in person for our consignor John DeMatties.
Ripken appeared in his eighth of an eventual nineteen consecutive All-Star Games in 1990. In addition to his "Iron Man" reputation, Ripken is among an elite class of players to have reached the 3,000 hit plateau and his 431 lifetime home runs ranks him among the top 50 all-time. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2007 in his first year of eligibility. This is an exceptional quality Ripken gamer dating from the heart of his illustrious career.
