His heart was left in San Francisco but his 1989 San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl XXIV ended up with SCP Auctions. The Size 10 1/2 Jostens 10K Gold ring presents four larger diamonds on the face representing the 49ers four Super Bowl crowns up to that point. The diamond face is encircled by engravings of Forty Niners on each side and 81, 84, 88 and 89, for the four Super Bowl years. One side of the ring has "Bennett" a figural depiction of the Super Bowl Trophies and the team's record, 17-2; the other side says "Back to Back, 88 89, a Super Bowl XXIV logo and the score, 55-10. Ring comes in an attractive 6 1/2-by-3 1/2-inch wood book (3 inches deep), with a brass nameplate on one side that says "San Francisco 49ers, Super Bowl XXIV Champions Tony Bennett" and a felt enclosure for the ring on the other. The top of the inside of the box has a Super Bowl XXIV logo on a red satin backdrop; the top of the outside of the box has a 1-inch silver strip with a tiny gold-and-black SF logo. Ring and box are in essentially as-issued condition; the red satin backdrop on the inside of the book does have a tiny spot of wear at the point where it touched the ring's tip. An important Super Bowl artifact coming from an iconic American entertainer universally linked to San Francisco by one of the most recognizable tunes of the postwar era.
