The size 11.5, 10K Gold Josten's 1984 Super Bowl ring features two raised images of the Vince Lombardi Trophy (representing San Francisco's two Super Bowl wins), with two large, marquis-cut diamonds replacing the footballs in the trophies. The trophy images are surrounded by a field of 33 more diamonds, and include the words "San Francisco Forty Niners World Champions." One side features a 49ers helmet and the ring recipient's name, Monroe, plus 1984 and the team's record, 18-1. The other side shows the Super Bowl XIX logo above a miniature relief of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the game score, 49ers-Miami, 38-16. The ring was presented to Carl Monroe, a running back for the 49ers, whose career highlight came during the Super Bowl game when he he caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Joe Montana. Comes in an elegant 6 1/2-by-3 1/2-inch wood display box, with red-felt holder on one side and metal nameplate with "San Francisco 49ers, Super Bowl XIX Champions, Carl Monroe" on the other. The SF logo appears at the top of the inside of the box, which like the ring itself, is essentially in as-issued and problem-free condition. The top of the presentation box features a narrow 1-inch silver strip and a gold "SF" logo.
