THE CLARINDA A'S ARE A SUMMER AMATEUR BASEBALL TEAM, NOT A MINOR LEAGUE TEAM
Beautiful Ozzie Smith game worn 1976 Clarinda Iowa A's summer league amateur baseball team jersey. Between his junior and senior years of college, Ozzie played baseball during the summer with the Clarinda A's, a summer amateur baseball team in Iowa. During his stay will the A's in 1976 the team hosted and won the National Baseball Congress Midwest Regional Tournament. Ozzie was picked for the All Regional team. This would also be the first time a Clarinda team had placed in the NBC World Series, finishing in a third place tie with defending champion Boulder, CO. Ozzie received the individual sportsmanship award for his play in the NBC World Series. Playing one of the strongest schedules to that point in their history, the A's finished 65-13. Ozzie Smith hit .379 that summer for the A's. Gopher Athletic Supply Company size 38 jersey has "Clarinda Iowa A's" in blue stitched to a red jersey on front with a large blue "2" on back. Jersey displays excellent game use.
LOA from Ozzie Smith.
