This stunning silver and polished black stone trophy is nearly identical to the adjacent lot from the 1988 All-Star Game, differing only in the polished component to the black stone and the fact that it is two inches higher. The remaining dimensions match: 17 inches in diameter at a circular black stone base, all weighing in at 38 lbs. A silver replication of the USA Today 1987 All-Star Fan Ballot (4-by-13 inches) has but one hole punched, Ozzie Smith. On the stone base that is 4 inches high, a 3-by-9-inch silver plaque intones "Ozzie Smith, Top Vote Getter, 1987 All-Star Fan Balloting, 2,254,409 votes," with the USA Today and MLB logos engraved on the left side. Atop the stone base is a 10-inch-square diamond, complete with etched silver bases and edges, and at the base of the ascendant ballot rests a 3-inch in diameter silver baseball. The trophy is essentially as-issued and problem free; the silver baseball betrays a bit of the tarnishing that you might expect from that was assiduously protected from molestation in any fashion.
