In 1971, during the NBA's 25th Anniversary commemoration, the league honored the "Team of its first quarter century" which included its ten best players and coach. The elite group of players included: Bob Cousy, Paul Arizin, Bob Davies, Joe Fulks, Sam Jones, George Mikan, Bob Pettitt, Bill Russell, Dolph Schayes, and Bill Sharman. Red Auerbach was named the coach. While the players received trophy plaques to commemorate their honor, Red was presented with this fine 16"x20" oil painting portrait by artist Tommy McDonald. Rich color and spectacular detail characterize this tremendous work of art. An engraved plaque affixed to the bottom of the frame tells the story of it's origin, reading "NBA SILVER ANNIVERSARY CITATION - ARNOLD AUERBACH - SAN DIEGO, CALIF. JAN. 11, 1971". The painting is artist signed and not only represents a significant award, but would also add an elegant touch to any office, den, or sports memorabilia display. A photo of Red receiving the painting along with his fellow honorees is included. Includes a letter of provenance from the Auerbach estate.
