June 12, 1939 was a momentous day for baseball. The Baseball Hall of Fame would open for the first time amid all the pomp and pageantry you would expect on such a highly anticipated occasion. As of that date, including the 1939 class, only 26 men in the 100 year history of the game had been elected for enshrinement. In 1939, 11 of those so honored attended the inaugural induction ceremony. Likely originating at that historic event, this remarkable baseball has been signed by six of those eleven inaugural inductees; Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, George Sisler and Honus Wagner. Additional signatures include James A Farley (US Postmaster) and others added at various later dates: Hank Greenberg, Stan Musial, Enos Slaughter, Muddy Ruel, Pete Rose and one unidentified. Signatures average 7-8 out of 10 on a mildly toned, unused ONL (Frick) ball. This important ball possesses a tremendous assemblage of prominent Hall of Famers from the very origin of that institution. Includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
