This spectacular real photo postcard features the 1915 American League Champion Boston Red Sox who would go on to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 4 games to 1 in the World Series. Rookie pitcher Babe Ruth is featured standing in the back row. In 1915 Ruth went 18-8 and along with Dutch Leonard Ernie Shore "Rube" Foster and "Smokey" Joe Wood the staff combined for a league-leading ERA of 1.49. When it was his turn in the pitching rotation Ruth added some punch to the offense hitting .315 with four home runs that year (three off the league lead) in 92 at-bats. Ruth’s one-two punch of pitching and slugging would help lead the Sox to World Series titles again in 1916 and 1918. The crystal clear image features 22 players plus the trainer all identified by name and position. Excellent presentation quality overall, though a technical assessment of VG-VG/EX is warranted based on a small crease on the lower left corner. The unused back has some areas of discoloration. Incredible and rare early image of the legendary Babe Ruth.
