Originating directly from the estate of former MLB Commissioner Bowie Kuhn, this light cream colored ball has been signed on a side panel in blue ink by Casey Stengel. Stengel's signature rates 10 out of 10, remaining very bold. A period inscription on a side panel by Commissioner Kuhn reads, "1st Ball By Stengel-World Series 10/16/73 Shea Stadium". This "first pitch" ball thrown by Stengel preceded the Mets playing their first home game of the 1973 Series behind their ace Tom Seaver only to be outgunned by the A's Catfish Hunter. Exceptional Casey Stengel single signed baseball with historical significance as a documented World Series first pitch. Includes LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the Kuhn family. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
