Johnny Mize played in the Major Leagues for fifteen seasons between 1936 and 1953, and was an All-Star ten times. The power hitting star finished his career with 359 home runs in spite of losing three prime years of his career to military service. Mize was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981. "The Big Cat's" sterling silver cigarette box is engraved on the lid “All-Star Award National League to John Mize In Token of His Selection to Baseball’s All-Star Team for the Year 1941.” The box measures 6¼" by 3¼" by 1½" and presents well in spite of a small “ding” on the front of the box at the base and some scuffing and scratches on the very bottom. Overall Excellent.
