Offered here is a Hillerich & Bradsby "O16" signature model bat wielded and signed by the man of a few words—who let his tape-measure home runs do his talking. Roger Maris employed this bat during his final two seasons in the big leagues. After helping power the Yankees' run of five successive pennants during the early 1960s, Roger Maris left the chaos of the Big Apple for the more the laid-back Midwest when the St. Louis Cardinals acquired Maris in a trade following the 1966 season. Maris’ twilight seasons spent in the Gateway City were productive with the Redbirds winning two N.L. pennants and a World Series title. Maris’ 35", 32-oz. signature model game bat features prominent center brand and barrel stampings. Maris black marker barrel inscription reads, "To Hank - Best Always - Roger Maris." The signature has faded over time, but still manages about "6-7" in strength. The uncracked club exhibits light use, with a few bat-rack and surface marks about the barrel. In vintage black marker, Maris' number "9" is inscribed on both the knob and barrel end, while a penciled "33" weight identifier appears at the former location. Includes a full LOA from John Taube of PSA DNA (graded GU7) and an additional LOA from PSA/DNA acknowledging the authenticity of the inscription.
