The Topps Chewing Gum Co. of Brooklyn, New York issued it's first national baseball card sets in 1951. Issued in two series, the cards are known as the Red Backs and Blue Backs, as that is the major difference in design between the two series. Sold two cards to a package for 10 cents, the cards are designed as a deck of cards for an elementary baseball game. This is an original box of 120 unopened wax packs from the Red Back series. The box has been very well preserved with some light to moderate wear to the cover. The punch-out top flap of the interior box has only been separated at the perforations to allow for intended counter top display. The packs all appear to be very tight with no significant condition flaws. Among the stars buried with these packs are Berra, Rizzuto, Feller, Spahn, Hodges, and Snider. This increasingly scarce unopened box displays beautifully and symbolizes the dawn of the Topps era.
