Babe Ruth single signed baseball with a very interesting history. Imagine you're a youngster living in the same apartment building as the legendary Babe Ruth. After seeing Ruth in the elevator a number of times you finally decide to go upstairs and get a ball signed. You ring the bell and when Mrs. Ruth answers you ask if Mr. Ruth would sign your ball. "Sure, son, what's your name?" You are invited in while she takes the ball and hands it to the Babe. He then places a perfect "To Richard Prager from Babe Ruth" carefully on the ball. As she gives it back she cautions "Be careful son, it's still wet". Needless to say our consignor was ecstatic. He would see Ruth many more times and when the Lincoln Car Company presented Ruth with a new car he was one of the residents who went down to watch the ceremony. He can be seen in the photo between pages 230 and 231 of the 1948 book "The Babe Ruth Story". He's the nattily attired youngster wearing a tie and overcoat directly behind the hood. Sporting goods model ball has been shellacked over the years, bringing the signature quality to about 4-5/10 due to the darkness. Still a decent signature with a very interesting story behind it. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA plus a very nice letter from the original owner who first obtained the ball.
