8/31/54 2 page letter(1 piece, both sides) written to Cy Jones from the fiery Hall of Fame legend Ty Cobb on his letterhead. Very interesting letter, following up his 8/18/54 correspondence(Lot 1269). Cobb starts off talking about the 1954 American League pennant race saying "you can never rule out the Yanks as long as Casey Stengel is there." In the bulk of the letter he asks about the young man that went back there and now advises Jones "not to advance him any money" and goes into detail about how the young man has been in a sanitarium until recently. He says he hasn't "heard from you or him" and thought he would check up. Strong, 9/10 Cobb green ink "Ty" signature. Original envelope also included. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
