The 1956 Gum Adventure Set, with their captivating portrayals of boxers and other renowned athletes, along with a broad range of relatively innocuous topics, constitutes an eclectic and entertaining series of collectibles. The series of 100 pastel-hued cards are particularly enjoyable in high grade, as seen here. The series' "key" card, #86 depicting German pugilist Max Schmeling and entitled "The Black Uhlan of the Rhine," has long been a coveted prize in hobby circles.
