Much like Jackie’s entry into the major leagues, his 1950 movie biography also broke new ground. At the time of its release, movie distribution was also conducted on a segregated basis. Advertising display posters, featuring prominent black athletes and entertainers were subsequently distributed based upon racial lines. The Jackie Robinson Story, however, represented the first instance in which such a movie was shown and even marketed to white audiences. This original one sheet advertising poster produced for the film has been mounted on linen, retaining vibrant color. It survives in apparent EX-MT condition, having benefitted from moderate professional restoration mostly at the fold lines.
