The Monarchs dominated the Negro American League in 1946 winning both halves of the split season. Willard Brown led the league in home runs, Buck O'Neil was the batting champ, Connie Johnson led the league in wins, and Satchel Paige was tops with a 1.32 runs allowed per 9 innings. The Monarchs, in their last Colored World Series appearance, lost a hard fought contest to the Newark Eagles in seven games. A loss no doubt helped by the defections of key players Strong, Paige, and Hamilton during the series. Very readable 6-7/10 black ink signatures on a light cream colored ball. An important and rare piece of Negro League Baseball History. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
