Awesome collection of 6 political autographs originally collected by an employee of a major Washington Hotel in the late 1890's. All are on 2 5/8" by 3 1/2" white cards. The vintage black ink signatures all rate a beautiful 9-10/10. A copy of a 1928 newspaper article about the collection is also included.

"Grover Cleveland Aug 24. 1898" - (1837-1908) - Both 22nd (1885-1889) and 24th (1893-1897) President of the United States. Also won the popular vote in the 1888 election but lot the Electoral vote to Harrison. The only Democratic President to hold office between 1861 and 1913.

"William R. Day" (1849-1923) - From 1903 thru 1922, 19 years, a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

"Lyman J. Gage" (1836-1927) - Both McKinley's and Roosevelt's Secretary of the Treasury.

"..........Sincerely, Garrett A. Hobart Vice President Sept. 7/98" (1834-1899) - McKinley's vice president. The 6th vice president to die in office. Signature dark but some ink smudging.

"T. B. Reed Portland Me 26-11-98" Republican Speaker of the House for 6 years during the 1890's.

"Theodore Roosevelt" (1858-1919) - 26th (1909-1909) and youngest President of the United States. Continually ranked among the best Presidents of all time. Proponent of the Spanish American War who organized his own volunteers, the Rough Riders, and saw action in Cuba. Known as the "Trust Buster" for breaking up nearly forty large monopolies, builder of the Panama Canal, and first American to win the Nobel Peace prize for ending the Russo-Japanese War.
