This lot includes a pair of original wire photos for the proposed Brooklyn Stadium, which were issued on July 30, 1956, in the effort to keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn. They each measure 5-3/4” x 9”. One captures the exterior view, while the other one shows the interior. Both have good contrast & clarity. The paper captions on the back tell us that the 50,0000 seat stadium could be done by the 1958 season at a cost of $9 million with the roof or $7 million without. There would be no posts to obscure views as at Ebbets Field. There also would be giant motors to move the stands around for different sporting events. These are rare images for a stadium that never was, as these efforts weren't enough to keep the Bums from moving out to Los Angeles.
