Beautiful one sheet movie poster for the 1949 re-issue of the 1942 Gary Cooper baseball movie about the life of tragic Yankee Hall of Fame Great, Lou Gehrig, The Pride of the Yankees. Prominent on the poster are portrait images of stars Gary Cooper and Teresa Brewer as well as a large, 16 1/2" tall Babe Ruth batting in uniform before a large, cheering crowd. The image of Ruth, missing from the 1942 posters, was added for the re-issue as Ruth had just passed away the year before. This is one of those rare instances where the re-release poster is more valuable than the original. Poster has some color re-touching done, mainly along the original fold lines and presents an eye appealing EM/NM. Piece will look great framed. Overall size measures about 26" by 40". Poster has already been professionally linen backed.
