November 29, 1930 at Soldier Field in Chicago. Knute Rocke's last year as coach. Undefeated 8-0-0 Notre Dame faces undefeated 8-0-1 Army in a showdown of unbeaten. teams, Notre Dame comes away with a hard fought 7-6 win and proceeds to take the 1930 College National Championship. November 6, 1946 at Yankee Stadium in New York, "The Game of the Century". Number 1 ranked and undefeated Army faces undefeated #2 Notre Dame. Army, led by "Mr. Inside" Heisman Trophy winner Doc Blanchard and "Mr. Outside" Glenn Davis, came in with a 25 game winning streak. Notre dame was led by Johnny Lujack, the quarterback who would win the Heisman the next year. Despite the offensive firepower, the game turned out to be a defensive struggle that eventually ended in a 0-0 tie.
