1984-85 saw the Los Angeles Lakers win their 8th NBA World Championship. The Lakers, under coach Pat Riley and led by Hall of Famers Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy, finished with a 62-20 record, good for best in the West. After pushing aside Phoenix, Portland and Denver by a combined 11-2 record, they faced a rematch with their long time nemesis Boston in the NBA Finals. Stinging from a 7 game loss the previous year and a 148-114 rout in the first game, the Lakers rebounded to whip the Celtics 4 out of the next 5 and end their long losing streak against Boston in the NBA Finals.
Huge purple and gold Championship banner measures 11' 6" by 17' 0" and hung for many years on the wall of the Lakers' old home, the "Fabulous" Forum . Los Angeles Laker LOA with hologram and certificate number.
