Late 1940's Babe Ruth figural clock produced by the Abbottwares Company. Wooden based bronze clock features a 5 inch bust of Babe Ruth mounted at the top center with inscribed baseball at each side. To the left ball reads "One Season 60 Home Runs" while the right says "Lifetime 714 Home Runs". Produced after Ruth's death in 1948, these clocks were the top prize offered in various punch board games, a popular form of low stakes gambling offered in bars and taverns at the time. Both baseballs do have some cracking with oxidation across much of the top of the base and to a much lesser degree the Ruth bust and baseballs. All in all, still a very impressive display piece for the price. The Ruth and #714 baseball both are loose but should be able to be tightened up once again. The clock still does run but has been set to the time of 7:14.
