Nice lot of 1880's baseball themed comic trade cards. Full color lithographed comic baseball scenes on front with blank backs. Cards were produced by Cosack & Co. Buffalo, NY and copyrighted in 1882. Cards retain good color and vary in size and condition. They are:
Batsman - EX+/EM with small 1/4" circle of paper loss on an otherwise clean back. 3 1/2" by 5 1/2"
Pitcher - EX+/EM in appearance but looks to be trimmed at the bottom. Back clean but 1 3/4" area of staining along top right border on front. 3 1/2" by 5 3/8"
Catcher - EX+/EM Small areas of paper flaking along with red color 'bleeding from the front or from the card below in the original printing process on an otherwise clean back. 3 7/16" by 5 7/16"
1st Baseman - Crease at upper right corner with rest of card appearing EX+/EM. Possibly trimmed at the bottom. Small area of paper loss on back at sight of crease. 3 7/16" by 5 3/8"
2nd Baseman - EX in appearance. Thin 1" line of discoloration at top right corner. Fingerprint at bottom center and "950" stamped in purple at top left corner of back. 3 7/16" by 5 7/16"
3rd Baseman - TRIMMED. Clean front. Back has some paper flaking at top right corner. 3 7/16" by 5 3/16"
Short Stop - EX in appearance. small ding on upper left corner and some soiling along top right. Small area of paper flaking at bottom center along with red color 'bleeding from the front or from the card below in the original printing process on an otherwise clean back. 3 7/16" by 5 7/16"
Left Fielder - POOR. Most of the front appears NM but about 1/4" has been torn off half the bottom while the remaining portion is creased. Back clean.
Centre Fielder - TRIMMED. Super clean front but bottom has been trimmed. Back clean. 3 1/2" by 5 1/4"
