A month after the beloved "Iron Horse" succumbed to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) at age 37, a memorial was held on the Fourth of July in 1941 at Yankee Stadium to honor Gehrig and dedicate a monument to him in Memorial Park, behind center field of the stadium. His became the 2nd to be erected, joining the one in place for former manager Miller Huggins. Babe Ruth would follow in 1949.

The original bearer of this rare ticket was among the few who failed to join the full house to honor the Yankees immortal captain. This brilliant full unused ticket features a striking image of Gehrig at the center and survives in remarkable condition with no cancellation marks or other indications of use. The beautiful crease-free ticket with a clean front and back has been graded PSA Near Mint 7, making it the second highest in the PSA Pop report with only one rated higher.
