In addition to Lou Brissie’s major league career for the Athletics and the Indians and heroic military record in World War II which earned him a Purple Heart, he was also a great ambassador for youth baseball. This lot includes Brissie’s 1956 Award from the Venezuelan Baseball Federation (10.5”X7.5”). Set in a red velvet original presentation box, it features a metal plaque that reads “Federacion Venezolana De Baseball - Al Equipo Legion Americana Caracas 1956” to Brissie. The plaque also has a gold coin at the bottom center and is in EX-MT condition with the box in VG-VG/EX condition. Included also is a 1960 large (30” tall) trophy from the Australian Baseball Council to Brissie. Featuring a large baseball player atop a large cup trophy with a brass plaque in front reading “Presented to Lou Brissie in appreciation of his efforts in behalf of Australian Youth - Australian Baseball Council 1960”. The impressive trophy is in EX-MT/NM condition with light signs of aging present.
