From 1940 to ‘47, quarterback Sid Luckman led the Chicago Bears to victories in four out of the five NFL Championship Games in which they appeared. The team acquired the University of Chicago's discarded nickname "Monsters of the Midway" and their now-famous helmet "C" as well as a newly penned theme song that declared them "The Pride and Joy of Illinois.” This lot includes three different team pennants during the decade of the '40s using color combinations of yellow, orange and black as well as just orange and black. It’s interesting to note the evolution of the team mascot from cuddly Cubbie Bear to ferocious, drooling Bear during the course of the decade. Each of the pennants measures 28” long.
