While Joe DiMaggio is best known for his endorsement of Mr. Coffee and Yogi Berra for Yoo-Hoo, Ted Williams will forever be linked with the soft drink Moxie. For over two decades, “The Kid” lent his likeliness to the Massachusetts-based soft drink. In this 1950s piece, Williams takes a finger-pointing pose mimicking the brand’s original “Moxie Man” character image. The Hall of Famer is shown in his full Red Sox home uniform behind a stadium gate along with a baseball that declares, “Ted Williams Says: Drink Moxie.” While the display was intended to be die-cut, this example is a printing sheet with three of the images side by side – the only known example. Measuring 43” x 12”, the uncut display shows overall toning and edge wear. The piece has been professionally matted and framed to bring out the bold colors in the display. A one-of-a-kind three-panel example of one of the most sought-after Ted Williams advertising pieces. This exceptional piece of advertising art presents in Near Mint to Mint condition.
