Awesome original artwork of legendary Notre Dame coach, Knute Rockne, who has signed in perfect looking 10/10 vintage black ink across the bottom, To my good friend George, My Best, Knute Rockne". Outstanding, realistic portrait of the famed Rockne measures about 14" by 20" and is framed in a very old 31" by 24" frame. We were told by the consignor, whose family has owned the artwork for many years, that the beautiful painting was done by artist George Shanahan, who played right end on Rockne's very first Notre Dame team in 1918. Shanahan has also signed the work near the bottom right corner. Amazing one of a king piece!
