Dubbed by the media as "Gentleman Jim Corbett" he was college educated and in addition to becoming a heavyweight boxing champion pursued a career in acting. He has been called the "Father of Modern Boxing" because of his scientific approach and innovations in technique. A large inscription "Yours Truly Jas. J. Corbett Apl 14/96" (10/10) appears on this 7 by 4 1/2 inch piece of blank paper. Along with it is a letter from Corbett's manager written in response to an autograph request as well as the original transmittal envelope from the Great Northern Hotel in Chicago postmarked April 14 1896.
