It is hard to imagine why it took until 1967 before Pittsburgh Pirates icon Roberto Clemente finally graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. He had been thrilling baseball fans with his flair and greatness on the ball field for well over a decade. It was worth the wait, however, as this colorful cover shows our hero gazing at a ball that had just been launched off his bat. CGC has graded this publication 9.0, making it the highest graded copy in their population report, with only one other 9.0 in existence. The CGC holder is slightly cracked on one of the edges, but it remains completely intact and does not mandate a reholder unless one so chooses.
