In 2016, which turned out to be his second American League MVP campaign in three seasons, L.A. Angels superstar slugger Mike Trout batted .315 with 29 home runs and 100 runs batted in. He also led the league in walks (116), runs scored (123) and on-base percentage (.441). This lot features a game-used, signed and inscribed bat that Trout swung during that memorable season. In fact, the photo-matching experts at Resolution Photomatching have conclusively matched this bat to July 26 and 27, 2016, in a pair of away games versus the Kansas City Royals in which Trout had a combined three hits and three runs batted in.

The 33.5” inch long, two-toned maple Old Hickory bat (model MT27*) is un-cracked but shows evidence of outstanding game use. Many blue-ink transfers from ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left and back barrel and also visible on the bat is an impression from a weighted batting donut. The handle has been taped approximately 9.5 inches long in a spiral pattern with red, white and blue “Lizard Skins” tape. There is a heavy coat of pine tar on the upper handle that stretches for nearly eight inches. Trout has signed the barrel of the bat in silver marker and added the inscription: “’16 G/U.” It should be noted that the production date of this Mike Trout professional model bat was during the 2015 calendar year, but the bat was in fact used by Trout during the 2016 MLB season.

Includes LOA from Anderson Authentics (hologram #2481) verifying dates of use and hit numbers. LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA graded perfect GU 10 (cert# 1B14104). LOA from Resolution Photomatching with conclusive side-by-side photo-matches confirming use in the aforementioned games.
