While Dr. J scored 30,026 points as a pro, he probably drew at least double that number in “oohs” and “ahs” for the flair with which he did it. Erving is one of only four players to crack 30,000 career points (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Karl Malone are the others) in professional play. He averaged 28.7 points in his five ABA seasons, winning three scoring. In his 11 seasons with the 76ers, he averaged 22 points. His 16-year pro averages were 24.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists.

Erving’s milestone 25,000th career point came during a December, 30th, 1983 game versus the Seattle Supersonics. The point was scored on a free throw made with 5:59 left in the game’s third quarter. The game was held up briefly in acknowledgement of the feat and this historic ball, used to score the point was immediately secured by the Sixers ball boy. Shortly thereafter, the ball was painted in a customary fashion, identifying its significance. Two panels of this Spalding game ball bear the details of Dr. J’s 25,000 point milestone in red, white and blue paint, a small degree of which has chipped away. On the top of the panel below Erving has added his autograph in black sharpie. This is a unique piece of basketball history from the personal collection of one of basketballs’ elite scorers.

Includes a signed LOA from Julius Erving.
