Julius Erving said, "I remember my first college game as a varsity player. I had a 27 point/28 rebound game. I wasn't a big guy, but I was able to chase rebounds down, and that set a school record in the first game." In two varsity college basketball seasons at UMASS, Erving averaged 32.5 points and 20.2 rebounds per game, becoming one of only five players to average more than 20 points and 20 rebounds per game in NCAA Men's Basketball. In 52 career contests, he recorded a remarkable 51 double-doubles. Erving left UMASS in 1971 as the school’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder. He led UMASS to two Yankee Conference titles and the school's first two NIT appearances. Dr. J was inducted into the UMASS Athletic Hall of Fame in 1980. The offered plaque was received by Erving in recognition of UMASS’ 1971 Yankee Conference Basketball Championship. Manufactured and labeled by Balfour, the 7 ½” by 9” shield shaped plaque features a bronze UMASS medallion at top and a metal placard with Erving’s name and titling. One of the most prominent awards from Erving’s extensive collection, marking his first Championship at the college level.

Includes a signed LOA from Julius Erving.
