The 2021 Atlanta Braves did the improbable, winning the franchise’s first World Series title in 26 years in six games over the Houston Astros. Coming into the postseason, no one outside of Atlanta thought the squad that won just 88 games in the regular season would come out on top. Not only did the Braves do just that, but the team did it in dominating fashion. The clinching Game 6 was never close, a contest the Braves absolutely dominated in 7-0 fashion.
After losing in Game 5 in Atlanta, the Braves were forced to head back to Houston for Game 6. Starter Max Fried took the mound after a disappointing performance in Game 2 in which he allowed six runs in just five innings. In Game 6 Fried was feeling it and dealing, though. He allowed just four hits in six dominant innings, setting the stage for the Braves sizzling offense to shine.
Perhaps the most talked-about moment of the 2021 World Series — and the 2021 MLB season as a whole — was eventual 2021 World Series MVP Jorge Soler’s 446-foot moonshot he hit into another Soler system. When the ball finally came back to Earth, it landed on top of an awning outside the stadium. It then rolled to a stop on the sidewalk just inside a fence separating the park from the surrounding neighborhood.
That was where the ball sat for eight whole minutes. Brothers Manuel and Richard Ramos were having a watch party just a block away from Minute Maid Park in Houston when they saw the ball return from orbit and hurtle back to Earth. They noticed no one was coming to grab the ball and decided to try to get it themselves. Manuel ran down six flights of stairs and captured the valuable memento. Even though the hometown Astros were now down 3-0, the mood was lively at the party as the ball was discussed.
Ultimately Manuel decided to consign the bomb to SCP, and we are pleased to present it in this sale. In November, Soler’s smash was named the winner of the 2021 MLB Legendary Moment Award as well.
