The 1959–60 Ohio State men's basketball team is the only basketball team to win a national title in Ohio State history. They were coached by Hall of Fame coach Fred Taylor and had three future Hall of Famers on their roster: center Jerry Lucas, forward John Havlicek, and reserve forward Bob Knight, who entered the Hall for his storied coaching career, most notably at Indiana. The Buckeyes steamrolled through the NCAA tournament by an average of 19.5 points a game, dusting off California, 75-55, in the final, with Havlicek and Lucas teaming up for 28 points.
The 10k gold Jostens ring features a large red stone at the face encircled by raised lettering of "The Ohio State University 1960. Both shanks have intricate graphic designs centering on NCAA Basketball logos; Havlicek's initials "J.H." are stamped on the inside of the ring band in cursive letters; tiny stampings of Jostens and 10K are also inside the band. The ring appears to be in largely as-issued and problem-free condition, with some light wear showing, especially around the band. Ring is presented in a small black box with gold highlights and felt interior custion.
