The year 1997 finally ended the suffering for a Denver Broncos team that had come so close, yet so far from winning the big one having lost all four Super Bowls they had made going back to 1977. Legendary Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway finally got his tormented franchise over hump in his 4th Super Bowl appearance, leading the Broncos to a 12-4 regular season and sprint through the playoffs en route to a 31-24 victory over Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII. While any uniform from this iconic quarterback's career is worthy of the greatest admiration, this 1997 game worn navy mesh jersey, complete with matching pants and socks from that historic season, is a definite cut above. The navy mesh and dazzle cloth jersey presents white and orange tackle twill number "7" on front, back and shoulders, with "ELWAY" sewn in proper white tackle twill on the back navy nameplate. "97-48" embroidered swatch is affixed to interior collar, with "Nike [size] 48" label present in tail. This swatch appears to have been re-stitched and may have been lifted from another jersey during the manufacturing process. The matching pants continue the orange side-striping theme of the jersey, and finds hand marked number "7" placed on either side of the laced fly. Tagging here denotes "Nike, NFL ProLine" with flap tags reading, "38" and "Short" with washing instructions. Year swatch is stamped "97." Finally we come to the socks, which feature a number "7" in marker at each toe. All pieces show evidence of light wear.

Letters of Authenticity from Lou Lampson and Heritage Sports Collectibles.
