From perhaps the most exciting collegiate figure to come down the pike in a while comes this pristine, Texas A & M replica helmet signed and inscribed by the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, Johnny Manziel. The Schutt helmet is a blazing white with red TAM lettering on the sides, all providing an appropriate backdrop for a bold, black Sharpie autograph from Manziel, who added his No. 2 inscription and the notation "1st Freshman Heisman '12." This kind of artifact takes on an additional significance since the exciting young sophomore quarterback found himself trying to elude pesky NCAA enforcement types last summer over allegations that he had gained monetarily from various autograph signing sessions. Ultimately, in one of the more curious if not intentionally whimsical penalties ever assessed by the collegiate governing arm, he had to sit out a half of a game at the start of the 2013 season. In a very real sense, Manziel pieces such as this have gone a long way to fueling the long-standing by currently red-hot debate nationally about compensation for top-level collegiate athletes.
