Superb 8"x9-1/2" black and white image of Jimmie Foxx by renowned baseball photographer George Burke captures the legendary slugger in a classic batting pose while a member of the Boston Red Sox, c. late 1930s. Foxx's neatly rendered inscription reads, "To My Friend Harold, May the best always be yours - Jimmie Foxx". The black ink inscription and signature rate 9 out of 10. The Harold who was the original recipient of this photo was an Ohio area golf course designer named Harold Paddock who was a friend and associate of Foxx's. The photo originates from the Paddock estate. The photo itself has an EX-MT appearance on the front with the reverse showing small areas of glue residue from scrapbook removal. Burke's studio stamp appears on back at the bottom right corner.
