How about something fresh to the hobby from one of the iconic figures not only in sports, but in history? New for your enjoyment is this vintage autograph of baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson on a colorful magazine page, beautifully encapsulated by PSA/DNA. Any signature of Jackie is a treasure, but this magazine page with Jackie artistically shown in action as a Brooklyn Dodger will stop you in your tracks. The image is boldly signed in blue marker, inscribed with Best Wishes. Note that there is some minor creasing in the original image, folded when our consignor mailed it to our hero.
Provenance: Our consignor collected sports autographs in the late 1960’s through the mid-1970’s while living in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Along with getting autographs at Cincinnati Bengals training camp, Cincinnati Royals NBA games, Cincinnati Reds games and opponents Cincinnati team hotels, he was active mailing to players during these years, including their sports cards, magazine photos and index cards to be signed and returned in stamped self-addressed envelopes. While he quit collecting in the mid-1970's, he always kept his collection nearby, although sometimes packed away for long periods of time. He recently "rediscovered" his collection, and ultimately decided it was time to give his autographed treasures a second life.
