The 1963 Topps set is one of the most attractive of the company’s 1960s offerings. Echoing the 1953 design with its large portrait and a smaller action shot, the 1963 set is the perfect design to showcase the stars of the day. However, the large edge to edge color bar on the bottom of each card is prone to chipping and presents a challenge to collectors assembling a high-grade set. Fortunately, this is of no concern when it comes to this particular near complete set. Carefully assembled by the original owner, these 566 out of the 576 cards in the set are of the high-grade variety. 206 of the key cards have been graded, including Roger Maris (PSA 8), Carl Yastrzemski (PSA 8), Bob Uecker (PSA 8.5), Casey Stengel (PSA 8), Bombers Best (with Mantle (PSA 8), Stan Musial (PSA 8), Eddie Mathews (PSA 8), Brooks Robinson (PSA 8), Frank Robinson (PSA 8), Don Drysdale (PSA 8), Ernie Banks (PSA 8), Duke Snider (PSA 8), Whitey Ford (PSA 8), Juan Marichal (PSA 8), and Art Fowler – the number on white and number on yellow versions, both (PSA 8). An absolutely beautiful near complete set in a stunning condition seldom seen in the hobby.
