Classic Pittsburgh Steelers throwback helmet worn by their longtime star wide receiver Hines Ward in a November 14, 2010 home game vs. the New England Patriots. Ward has also signed and inscribed the shell. This game was not the most memorable one for the Steelers or Ward as they lost 39-26 and his streak of 186 consecutive games with at least one catch came to an end (due primarily to being knocked out of the game on a hit by Patrick Chung and James Sanders).
This yellow-gold Riddell size L throwback helmet with a black stripe down the middle and Steelers team logo on the right side is the same style worn by the 1962 team, only the Steelers logo on the original versions read just "Steel". No numbers appear on the back as was the style of that era. Ward has added his signature and #86 along with the inscription "GAME WORN 11-14-10 vs PATS" on the right side of the shell just above the Steelers logo. The shell of the helmet shows a good deal of game use. The area where Ward has signed has two fairly deep scratch marks 2-3" in length. There is a blueish rub mark on the rear. The facemask has abuse visible on the top bar. The chinstrap is included and all interior padding is intact. All elements are essentially as-issued in problem-free condition.
