He hit over .400 three times, won seven batting titles, and retired with the second highest batting average in baseball history (.358). Some say Hornsby's scientific approach to the craft of hitting rivaled that of Ted Williams a generation later. Offered here is what must certainly be among the finest and most unique signed Hornsby baseballs extant. The near-white official NL (Frick) ball features not one, but two perfectly rendered signatures by Hornsby on opposite panels, each with his added date notation “1956”. Both blue ink signatures are exceptionally large, rating 9 out of 10. The ball itself appears like new with dark manufacturer’s stampings. Includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
