Harry Heilmann's H&B professional model bat speaks to the strength of the 6'1" 200-lb righthanded hitter. The hefty club, dating from the 1925-1928 period, measures 35.75 inches in length and weighs 40.3 ounces. The bat shows evidence of outstanding use with a handle crack with a 1.5 inch sliver missing from the crack. The barrel is covered with ball marks and ball stitch impressions. Also visible on the bat are cleat marks and several nicks and scratches. The letters "IC" is carved into the knob. Heilmann captured four American League batting titles in 15 seasons with the Tigers and is among Detroit's all-time leaders in every major hitting category. A tall order for a player who shared the lineup with fellow Hall of Famers Ty Cobb and Heinie Manush for many years. LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (Graded GU6)
