Despite his "Killer" nickname and his powerful style of play, Killebrew was in fact a quiet, kind man who was not much given to the partying lifestyle enjoyed by many of his peers. Killebrew became one of the American League's most feared power hitters of the 1960s, belting 40 homers in a season eight times. From that era, 1964 to be precise, this H&B model S207 signature model bat shows evidence of outstanding use with a crack on the back handle and slight checking (grain separation) from repeated ball contact on the back barrel. Many ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left and back barrel. Also visible on the bat are cleat marks, blue bat rack streaks and a mounting hole on the lower handle. There is a light coat of pine tar on the handle. The model number (S207) is stamped into the knob. Killebrew's number (3) is on the knob in faded black marker and the weight of the bat is on the knob also in black marker. Killebrew's signature and added inscription 'Home Run #45 1964' is on the front barrel in black marker. The inscription suggests this bat was used to hit his 45th home run in 1964, a year in which he led the league with 49. Length: 35 inches, Weight: 31.7 ounces. LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (Graded GU7.5).
