Between 1940 and ‘49, the brain trust of the Chicago Bears largely consisted of head coach George “Papa Bear” Halas and high-flying quarterback Sid Luckman. Under the tutelege of Halas, Luckman led the Bears to 72 wins during that time, averaging eight wins per season. During the course of his NFL career, Luckman played in 128 games and threw for 14,686 yards and 137 touchdowns. Halas, meanwhile, coached and owned the Bears for decades, amassing 324 victories as head coach and winning six NFL titles. This lot features a combination George Halas/Sid Luckman dual cut signature double-matted display that measures 10.5” wide by 16” high. It includes an 8” x 10” color magazine cut-out of Halas, with his playbook under his right arm, mentoring Luckman (in full uniform) on the sidelines. Their respective cut signatures are evenly displayed beneath the photo with Halas (in 8-9/10 blue ink) on the left and Luckman (in slightly faded black ink) on the right. Includes full LOA from JSA for both autographs (letter to be done post-auction).
