“Growing up in Colorado Springs, Colorado I remember pitching to my brother Jack in our front yard, winding up and trying to throw the ball as hard as I possibly could throw. He'd say, ‘You're not throwing very hard. You're throwing like a sissy.’ I'd have tears in my eyes I'd be trying so hard, but looking back, that's where my wild delivery came from, all arms and legs, flailing, coming right at you. I had a dream of playing in the big leagues. My Dad would always say I was going to be there someday and I would just say, ‘Oh, Dad, don't say that,’ because deep down I just didn't believe it could happen.”

- Goose Gossage, July 27, 2008 Cooperstown, N.Y.

Presented here is Goose Gossage's personal Baseball Hall of Fame plaque, the actual award that was issued to the legendary closer at his induction ceremony in 2008. This presentation piece is a smaller version of Gossage's metal plaque that rests on permanent display at the Hall. Weighing nearly five pounds (The metal plaque component, alone, has a substantial 1/2" thickness.), the gorgeous metal and wood plaque measures 6 1/2" by 8 3/4". Markings on the back note the National Baseball Hall of Fame copyright and proprietary statement. Personal Hall of Fame presentation plaques -- especially those issued to players of Gossage's stature and popularity -- are very seldom offered for public sale. Comes with the original Hall of Fame pouch and box.

LOA from Goose Gossage.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
