Awesome 1978 Rolaids American League Fireman of the Year Award given to New York Yankee hall of Fame reliever Goose Gossage. For the Yankees in 1978 Gossage had quite a year in relief, appearing in 63 games, finishing 55, with 10 Wins, a 2.01 ERA, and 27 Saves. Gossage has signed the trophy on the back in perfect 10/10 looking silver felt tip pen. Trophy stands 21 inches high with a silver fireman's helmet supported by a silver column on a 10-inch high wooden base. A gold emblem at the front of the helmet features the iconic Major League Baseball red, white and blue logo, along with the words "Rolaids Relief Man Award" and "Major League Baseball." A 4-by-6-inch gold nameplate on the base reads "Rich Gossage, American League, New York Yankees and 1978". Trophy itself in decent shape with some nicks to the wood base and tarnish to the fire helmet. Main problem is that adhesive holding the gold emblem in place on the front has come loose, so this piece will have to be re-attached. A very impressive trophy indeed!
