This is the original manuscript of the book "Sisler on Baseball," written by the Hall of Famer and published in 1954, an absolutely stunning historical artifact that includes handwritten notations and even diagrams from Sisler, plus a pristine first-edition copy of the published book, complete with an autograph and inscription from his son, George Sisler Jr. The 128-page manuscript, on 8 1/2-by-11-inch typewritten pages and stapled to individual chapters or sections, is in nothing short of remarkable condition, essentially Ex-Mt or even better for most of the pages, and the book itself is similarly pristine, close to Nr-Mt, save only for the lightest touches of wear on the corners of the front and back covers and binding. The book features a foreword by Branch Rickey, who had been Sisler's coach at the University of Michigan. Sisler's considerable educational background - most notably a degree in mechanical engineering - is evidenced in the manuscript throughout, including intricate and detailed diagrams concerning virtually every aspect of offensive and defensive play on the diamond. On the opening page of the book, his son, George Jr., has autographed the book and added an inscription to his daughter, Nancy: "This is the best book on Baseball I have ever read. Your grandfather really knew his field. From Dad with Love." The manuscript comes in a traditional manila envelope that shows considerable wear, essentially Poor condition, but does boast some pencil notations and numberical calculations likely from the author. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Sisler Family.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
